Ashley and Judson came to Savannah for a trip after their wedding and they brought their wedding attire with them in hopes to have a magical southern photoshoot before they left. I was so happy that I was available to help them with this!! Julie Wilson of the Wilson Design Group made Ashley's beautiful bouquet. We went to some of the best spots that Savannah has to offer, like Wormsloe, Forsyth Park and Chippewa Square. It was a magical afternoon and I has so much fun getting to know these two and photographing them on such a gorgeous day.

LaRee & Jesse, what can I say?! I think I was just as excited that their wedding day was finally here, as they were! I was so happy to be a part of some of the biggest moment of their lives (click here to see their proposal and here to see their engagement photos). It definitely helps that I've know LaRee for years (P-A-C-E-R!! Spell it louder, say it prouder!) and Jesse is probably one of the easiest people to talk to/get along with. LaRee & Jesse were the perfect couple that every photographer wants to work with. They were open to any suggestions that I gave for their proposal/engagement photos/wedding day and were willing to try any pose that I asked them to do.
It's so amazing to see such a large community of people, come together to see two people were are so in love get married. LaRee & Jesse got married in the church that LaRee grew up attending and Jesse's father presided over the ceremony. This was probably one of the most emotional weddings that I photographed to date. (Lots of happy tears, of course!!) Through the tears, I knew that LaRee & Jesse were so happy that this day had finally arrived and they could finally start their life together. The Head family was so sweet and they were so amazingly awesome at getting Parker smiling in all the photos. I really love getting out of my normal shooting spots and photographing this family in a new location. This was a special shoot for this Colorado family, and I'm so happy that I was able to help them out with during their east coast beach vacation!

There are many uphill battles to contend with, most of them having to do with the weather. The weather in Savannah is already a little unpredictable (um, it's February and it will be EIGHTY degrees later this week?! What the what?!!). So any time I have a bride inquire about a summer wedding, I'm always crossing my fingers for a cross breeze and NO RAIN. Seriously, if there's even a chance that it will rain at the beginning of the wedding week, I'm outside doing my "go away rain" dance. I want my couples to have an amazing wedding day, with beautiful outdoor photos, and the only way that will happen is if the storm clouds stay far far away.
Taylor and Thomas' wedding day started with a few clouds in the sky. As I arrived at Savannah Quarters to start shooting details, the wind started to pick up and the clouds got darker. That's never a good sign. The bottom dropped and it poured - but only for about 15 minutes, and then it was all over. The dark clouds went away and eventually even the sun made a little appearance. Despite all this worrying of the weather, the wedding day went perfectly. Taylor and Thomas were surrounded by friends and family tightly packed in their ceremony space to watch the two of them declare their love for one another. The venue was decorated beautifully, the food was amazing and the live band had the guests dancing all night long. And I just have to say... I've never been around so many people who were so incredibly friendly. So friendly in-fact, that they were offering to lend me a hand with my gear and asking me if I needed anything (that's my job!! hahaha). Such an amazingly lovely group of people. Seriously! I had a great time getting to know them when I shot their engagement photos back in November 2015. After the shoot, I was SO excited for their wedding day!! Seriously! Their happiness was infectious and their love was definitely apparent. Their big day was the last wedding I shot before I left for my big summer trip, so it was a perfect end to my spring weddings!
Briana and Ian chose Savannah Quarters as the location for their wedding day. I would just like to say, it's a GORGEOUS location. I had never shot a wedding at the location before, however, I quickly found out that the grounds are just lovely, the building is styled perfectly and the staff are amazingly helpful. Briana and Ian's first look was emotional and so sweet. They exchanged letters with one another right after, while just about every member of their family watched from afar. The ceremony was a perfect mix of prayer and love, even with the little mist from above. The guests had a GREAT time as they danced the night away. I'm always impressed with the dance moves that I see at every wedding and this group did not disappoint! Along with the amazing dance moves, there was even some karaoke going on at the reception!! Perfect couple, amazing location and a great group of guests made this a fabulous night that I know Briana and Ian will remember forever!! To see more from Briana and Ian's wedding, scroll down! Jessi and Ryan's wedding was full of love and some pretty amazing dance moves, if I do say so myself. All of Jessi's wedding day details were simple yet sophisticated. Jessi and her bridemaids got ready at a house out on Tybee Island. The Royal Make-Up and Hair girls were on-site putting the final touches on Jessi when I got to the house. Jessi had all her details ready for me the second I walked in. This makes my job soooo much easier and it saves on time to go ahead to have everything together that you're planning to put on whenever you get dressed. Have these items together before you start getting your hair and make-up done so there are no interuptions and everything can go smoothly on the wedding day. Getting behind can get stressful and no one ever enjoys being rushed. Trust me.
Jessi and Ryan's first look was at Old Fort Jackson. The fort was the location for both the ceremony and the reception. The fort provides a very different/interesting backdrop to a wedding. It blends the historical with the loveliness of a wedding day. Old Fort Jackson is located between downtown Savannah and the islands (Wilmington/Whitemarsh). The fort sits on the Savannah River and you often get views of the giant tanker ships pulling out of the Harbor, which is a pretty cool site to see. The wedding was beautiful. Even the lovebugs couldn't help themselves!! (they were everywhere! They even flew into Jessi's veil! And Ryan, very sweetly, helped to get them out for her. -- Awwwww. ) The love felt between Jessi and Ryan was infectious as they exchanged their vows and were finally pronounced as husband and wife. From the ceremony, came the most fun I think I've ever had at a reception before. These guests came to PARTY. They had some of the best/interesting/amazing/crazy/fantastic dance moves I've ever seen in my life. (Even a dirty dancing jump and lift!!) Everyone had a great night. Just take one look at the photos, and you can tell that to be the truth. This UGA dawg lovin' crew made my night and helped to make Jessi & Ryan's wedding one I'll never forget!! One of my most popular blog posts is one that I made with song suggestions for brides and grooms to use for their first dance. I love being able to use my love for music to provide song selections for my other love - wedding photography. I try to choose songs that I like to listen to (duh), but also songs that might be a little different. Many of these songs are ones that I feel are either fun & entertaining or sweet & loving. When choosing a first dance song, a lot of couples use a song that they either heard a lot while they were dating or a meaningfiul song to their relationship. With music always changing and evolving, I would definitely have a lot of trouble trying to narrow down the choices to just one. Seriously... I'm not sure how I would choose. It would probably have to come out to be some weird mash-up of like 20 different songs..... then again, maybe not. hahaha. I can't talk from experience personally, I can really only talk from experience as someone who has witnessed at least 30 + first dances - choose a song that you love; one that you never tire of. One that reminds you of the person you love and the feelings that you have towards that person. This should be the song that you choose. THE first dance song.
Here are a few of my suggestions: Stevie Wonder - At Last
I had NO IDEA that this song even existed until it randomly popped up on my spotify one day. This is one of the reasons that I love listening to either spotify radio or some random person's playlist on any streaming website - I always find some new music to add to my personal playlists or to share with others! This is a GREAT rendition of the Etta James classic in the style that we all love from Stevie Wonder. You could definitely have fun with this as your choice.
